Local Students Serving as Resident Assistants at Eastern Connecticut State University
Several local students are serving as resident assistants (RAs) at Eastern Connecticut State University this fall. Eastern has more than 70 RAs, students who are carefully selected and trained to help dormitory residents create an environment that is conducive to individual and social growth.

Area Students Selected to be Freshman Advantage Mentors at William Woods University
William Woods University is again offering a three-week summer program, called Freshman Advantage, for students who want to get a jump-start on college. The program, which started June 12, runs until July 2 on the WWU campus.
This year 11 mentors are assisting the participants by tutoring, leading weekend activities and serving as community advisors in the residence halls. The mentors are selected by Freshman Advantage faculty through an application and interview process.

Twenty-four business majors at Eastern Connecticut State University were inducted into Delta Mu Delta, the international honor society for business administration, on April 19. The society recognizes academic excellence of students in a community that fosters the well-being of its members and the business community through life-time membership.

Eastern Connecticut State University Students Participated in Community Cleanup in Coventry
Student volunteers from Eastern Connecticut State University gave Coventry a "spring cleaning" on April 9 and received a warm reception from grateful townspeople. Approximately 200 volunteers registered for "Community Day 2011," putting in a 4- to 5-hour workday to clear hiking trails, paint the band shell at Patriots Park, landscape that and several other parks and spruce up other town facilities, including the Nathan Hale Homestead and two properties of the Coventry Historical Society. In all, Eastern students worked on 16 different projects during the day.
