Avery Forsythe Receives ODK Scholarship to Pursue Master of Arts
Avery Forsythe, of Crested Butte, Colorado, has received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) to attend graduate school at Western Colorado University (WCU). Forsythe graduated summa cum laude from WCU in May 2020 with a sociology major and a psychology minor. She served as president of the ODK circle (chapter) at Western during her undergraduate career. Having enjoyed helping to strengthen the relatively new circle, Forsythe joined forces with fellow initiates to establish an after-school club for middle schoolers which focused on the importance of service. She was able to instill the mission and values of ODK with the students by coordinating their participation in service projects. Forsythe also remained active in campus life through her work as an EPIC Mentor, an organization that utilized student mentorship to foster student engagement and retention. Forsythe is working toward a Master of Arts at WCU. She is studying elementary education with an emphasis on reading leadership. As part of her educational journey, she has also served as a student teacher in a third-grade classroom. After graduation, Forsythe plans to achieve an English as a Second Language certificate in hopes of teaching internationally.

Mary Lynn Freeman Receives Graduate Scholarship to Attend Samford University
Mary Lynn Freeman, a native of Dothan, Ala., received the $2,500 Winton M. Blount Scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK). Freeman graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science with a major in speech, language, and hearing sciences. As an undergraduate, in addition to being a member of ODK, she was a member of Mortar Board and Lambda Sigma. Freeman was also a member of the National Student Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. She was active in the Omega Circle of ODK at Auburn University and held the treasurer position in her senior year. Freeman was also significantly involved in her sorority and held a leadership position every year during her collegiate experience, including her service as recruitment chair during the COVID-19 pandemic. Freeman is currently enrolled in the speech-language pathology master's program at Samford University. She is excited about the next steps in her education journey and hopes to use those new skills to serve others and provide health care to those who need it most. After graduating, Freeman plans to specialize in pediatric speech pathology in either a private practice or a hospital setting.

McKenna Deaton Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Graduate School
McKenna Deaton, a native of Sioux City, Iowa, received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) to attend graduate school at the University of Iowa. Deaton graduated summa cum laude from Morningside University in 2021. She earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in chemistry. Deaton also earned a minor in general psychology. During her time at Morningside, she was an undergraduate teaching assistant for a course in introductory genetics and a research assistant studying COVID-19's impact on students' attitudes throughout the pandemic. In addition to these roles, Deaton served as an executive within several campus student organizations, including treasurer and historian of Chemistry Club, treasurer of Alpha Psi Omega, treasurer of OK, and a student member of Pre-Professional Health Club. Deaton received academic recognition by being named to the dean's list and as a Roadman Scholar. She was also active in campus theater, both on and off the stage. Deaton is continuing her education and working on a Master of Public Health with a major in epidemiology. She aspires to work in public health and would like to help bridge the inequities within the health care system.

Stephanie E. Clark Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Medical School
Stephanie E. Clark, a native of Fairfield Township, Ohio, recently received a $2,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) to attend the University of Toledo's College of Medicine and Life Sciences. Her scholarship was provided through the generosity of Diane and Tom Vukovich of Akron. Clark graduated summa cum laude from Muskingum University with a bachelor's degree with majors in chemistry and mathematics. As co-president of the ODK Muskingum University Circle (chapter), she helped organize events, including Parents' Weekend and a fundraiser benefiting a local food pantry. Clark was also a student mentor, chemistry and math tutor, and the Pre-Health Club president. In addition, she was a co-captain of the women's basketball team. Clark is currently pursuing her M.D. degree. She developed a passion for medicine through her experiences shadowing a family physician and volunteering at a children's hospital. Clark continues to participate in a variety of campus and community activities. She volunteers at the Community Care Clinic, a student-run free medical clinic, and is the treasurer of Students for Medical Missions. Clark has helped pack supplies for mission trips, managed finances, and assisted with fundraising at the clinic. She provides tours of the anatomy lab and plastination museum to students for the organization, Student-2-Student. In addition, Clark also volunteers as an assistant coach for a local girls' basketball team.

Amanda C. Catalan Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Graduate School
Amanda C. Catalan, from Nicholasville, Ky., has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK). She received her master's degree in clinical psychology from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) in May 2021. During her time at EKU, Catalan participated in graduate research, discovering coping strategies for symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and understanding severity and best teaching practices for students in that field. She also worked as a graduate assistant and a course facilitator. Catalan was active in the psychology clinic on campus, providing assessments and therapies to different populations with various mental health concerns. For two years, Catalan served as a PASS tutor, where she assisted underperforming students in their coursework. She is an advocate for mental health and its treatments and services and continues to fight against the societal stigma regarding mental health. Catalan is passionate about psychology and is pursuing her doctoral studies at Eastern Kentucky University. Her goal is to become a clinical psychologist focusing on mental health and assessing and managing suicidal ideations experienced by individuals and other mental health concerns.

Bryan M. Carroll Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Washington University
Bryan M. Carroll, a native of Hazelwood, Mo., recently received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa to complete his studies in a dual degree program coordinated by Fontbonne University and Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL). Carroll has finished his studies in applied mathematics at Fontbonne and is enrolled in the Master of Engineering in Energy, Environmental, and Chemical Engineering program at WUSTL in Fall 2021. Carroll was active in campus life at Fontbonne. He served as the ODK Fontbonne Circle's (chapter) president and historian. In addition, he was a WING and Griffin 1010 (orientation) leader, a Dance Marathon participant, and a university programming intern. Carroll was also a starter on the university's soccer team and was on the dean's list for several semesters. He was selected as Fontbonne's ODK Circle Leader of the Year in honor of his hard work and dedication to Omicron Delta Kappa. Carroll is excited to continue his educational career at Washington University in St. Louis and is looking forward to the challenges and new experiences that lie ahead. He plans to use his M.Eng. degree to begin a career in chemical engineering.

Ryan T. Brownlee Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Medical School
Ryan T. Brownlee, a resident of Flowery Branch, Ga., recently received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) to attend medical school. Brownlee is an initiate of the Mercer University Circle of ODK. He spent summer 2021 researching the toxicity of mercury-cyanide complexes on zebrafish adult and embryo viability. In addition to his membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, Brownlee is an initiate of Alpha Epsilon Delta and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. He has also volunteered for MerServe, a student-run service leadership board for the Macon undergraduate campus of Mercer University, and at a local homeless shelter. Aside from being recognized by OK, Brownlee was also awarded the Foothills A.H.E.C. Intensive Program Graduate Scholarship for 2021. He plans to attend an M.D. or combined M.D./Ph.D. program with the goal of becoming a primary care physician.

Brandon J. Beyke Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Kettering College
Brandon J. Beyke recently received a $2,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa(ODK) to pursue his physician assistant studies. He graduated summa cum laude from Muskingum University (MU) with a Bachelor of Science with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry in December 2020. As the vice president of the MU Circle of ODK, Beyke helped organize various events, including the annual leaf raking fundraiser benefiting a local charity. In Fall 2020, he connected his volunteering experiences with Interim Hospice to ODK. Beyke was able to help fundraise for their patients to receive holiday gifts while maintaining safe COVID-19 practices. He was also a pre-physician assistant mentor, chemistry tutor, pre-health club secretary, and lab manuscript contributor. In addition, Beyke was recognized for his hard work and dedication by earning the Hugh Kuhn Senior Biology Award. He was also a Muskingum University S.T.E.M.M. scholar. From his volunteering and shadowing experiences, he found a strong desire to help those in need. Beyke's scholarship was funded by Diane and Tom Vukovich of Akron, Ohio. He intends to live in Ohio upon graduation and help his fellow Ohioans lead healthier lives.

Stephanie E. Cannon Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Georgetown University
Stephanie E. Cannon, a native of Newnan, Ga., recently received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) to attend Georgetown University. Cannon graduated from the University of Georgia (UGA) in May 2021 with her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Arabic. She also earned a minor in Russian and a certificate in global studies. While completing her undergraduate degree, Cannon was a security leadership program scholar at the Center for International Trade and Security, a fellow with UGA's Carl Vinson Institute of Government, and a research assistant at the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities. She also served as president of the UGA Circle (chapter) of ODK and was selected as its Circle Leader of the Year in Spring 2021. In addition to her academic pursuits, Cannon is involved with Paper Airplanes, an organization dedicated to providing tutors to Syrian refugees and other conflict-affected individuals. Cannon will use her scholarship to pursue a Master of Arts at Georgetown University. She will major in security studies and pursue a concentration in technology and security. Cannon is also working on a certificate in business diplomacy through Georgetown's Walsh School of Foreign Service. She plans for a career in private sector intelligence with a focus on securing supply chains.

Hunter T. Berry Receives ODK Scholarship to Attend Vanderbilt University
Hunter T. Berry received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa to support his law school studies. He graduated from Berry College with summa cum laude honors and was initiated into the ODK circle there in 2019. Berry was a double major in political science and cyber-security and earned a minor in economics. At Berry, he served as the president of the Honors Student Union and was also student government treasurer. A member of Berry College's Leadership Fellows, Berry cultivated his leadership skills and used them to help others grow as well. His leadership was reflected in his roles as founder and vice president of his school's Mock Trial Association and as a training coordinator for the Office of Admission, where he oriented new admissions ambassadors. Aside from his work and involvement in groups such as the Model United Nations team at his college, Berry served as a research assistant in the political science department. He worked with professors to publish articles on global incarceration rates. Berry is a Phi Kappa Phi Fellow and a recent recipient of Berry College's Order of St. Andrew Award. He is currently enrolled at Vanderbilt University's Law School and received the institution's Cheatham Scholarship and Chancellor's Scholarship.

Abram Clear Named Omicron Delta Kappa's 2021 National Leader of the Year in Scholarship
Abram Clear, a native of Chilhowie, Virginia, and a 2019 initiate of the William & Mary Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, has been named the Society's National Leader of the Year in Scholarship. This award is one of the Society's highest collegiate honors, and it comes with a $1,000 prize. Clear received his Bachelor of Arts with majors in linguistics and anthropology in May 2021. While a student at William & Mary, he was named a Rhodes Scholar Finalist, Charles Center Honors Fellow, and the 2021 recipient of the university's Carr Cup. This award recognizes a graduating senior based on character, leadership, and scholarship. In addition, Clear served as vice president of Omicron Delta Kappa, co-president and education chair for the Rainbow Coalition, president of the Linguistic Club, and as an aide in the Office of First Year Experience. He also presented at the 2021 Linguistic Society of America Conference. Clear was a research assistant for Discourse Analysis at W&M as well as for the W&M Phonetics and Phonology Lab. He also served as a research assistant for the W&M LGBTIQ Research Project. Clear enrolled at the University of Toronto this fall to pursue a Master of Arts in linguistics.

Karen Shalev Elected 2021-22 Worcester State University SGA President
Karen Shalev, a 2021 initiate of the Worcester State University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, has been elected as the school's 2021-22 Student Government Association President. In addition to her roles with SGA and ODK, Karen is involved as a presidential student ambassador, Chabad on Campus, Delta Alpha Pi, Alpha Mu Gamma, and Lambda Pi Eta. Off campus, she's a rest home volunteer, Sunday school teacher, and StandWithUs New England campus coordinator. Karen will graduate in 2022 with her degree in visual and performing arts and communication. After completing her undergraduate degree, Karen plans to pursue a Master of Science with a major in communication at Clark University.

Bradford Webb Selected by Texas Rangers in Seventh Round of 2021 MLB Draft
Bradford Webb, an initiate of the Hampden-Sydney College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the Texas Rangers. The Charlotte Court House, Virginia, native is a right-handed pitcher. After earning his undergraduate degree in business and economics at HSC, Webb was a graduate transfer student-athlete at Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2021 season. This year, he had 17 appearances for the Rams, 14 starts, 57 strikeouts, and a 3.16 ERA after 57 innings. Webb was the first HSC baseball player to be drafted since 1975.

Tyler Howerton Voted 2020-21 Academic All-America
Tyler Howerton (Hampden-Sydney College, 2019) has been selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as a 2020-21 Academic All-America Division III Football First Team honoree. He earned the same distinction in the 2019-20 academic year. As a player, Howerton started all 32 games playing at center, right guard, and left tackle during his collegiate career. He received the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Scholar-Athlete Award in 2021. This award is presented by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), and it is the conference's top male scholar-athlete recognition. Howerton was also recognized with the 2020-21 ODC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. He is also a four-time ODAC All-Academic Team member. Howerton served as the vice president of the HSC Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa. In addition to being a member of ODK, Howerton is also an initiate of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Chi Beta Phi, and Pi Mu Epsilon honor societies. He graduated, summa cum laude, from Hampden-Sydney in May, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in physics and a minor in mathematics. Howerton earned a 4.0 GPA and was selected as one of the two 2021 valedictorians. During his undergraduate career, he was also the recipient of a Barry Goldwater Scholarship, one of the most prestigious scholarship awards for students studying natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.

India Henderson Named Omicron Delta Kappa's 2021 National Leader of the Year in Creative and Performing Arts
India Henderson, a native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and a 2019 initiate of the University of Richmond Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, has been named the Society's National Leader of the Year in Creative and Performing Arts. This award is one of the Society's highest collegiate honors, and it comes with a $1,000 prize. Henderson received her Bachelor of Arts with a major in leadership studies from the Jepson School of Leadership at the University of Richmond in May 2021. She was also recently named the recipient of the James MacGregor Burns Award, the Jepson School's highest honor, given to a graduating senior in recognition of their academic, service, and leadership accomplishments. During her time at UR, Henderson served as president of the Epsilon Circle of OK and received the Excellence Award from the Department of Theatre and Dance. She is also an initiate of Alpha Psi Omega, the national theatre honor society. She was also named a Richmond Artist Scholar and Oliver Hill Scholar by the university.Henderson was active in other several campus programs and activities. She served as the web designer and community service coordinator of her social sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She was the president of Choeur du Roi A Cappella, a performing arts group. She will spend the fall 2021 semester in France teaching English and solidifying her French language fluency. Next spring, she will begin post-graduate training in preparation for a career in the performing arts.

Courtney Berry Named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee
Washington and Lee University recent graduate Courtney Berry was announced as the ODAC's nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year. The Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service, and leadership. The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the Top 30 - 10 from each division - and from there selects three finalists from each division. The top 30 honorees will be announced in September, and the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced later in the fall. A native of Charlottesville, Virginia, Berry's list of academic and athletic trophies is extensive. She maintained a 3.971 grade point average as a psychology and strategic communications double-major. The two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree earned Academic All-American laurels from CoSIDA in spring 2021 in addition to the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award for volleyball. She is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), Phi Beta Kappa (academic), and Phi Eta Sigma (first-year) national honor societies. Berry has been recognized by W&L a number of times, including three appointments to the President's List and the recipient of the William McHenry Female Scholar-Athlete Award, the top academic honor for Generals athletics. She also received the W&L Department of Journalism and Mass Communications Excellence in Strategic Communication Award and was a nominee for the Washington and Lee Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, which recognizes college students and members of the college community who have demonstrated noble character and acted as humble servants, placing service to others before self-interest. She was also the winner of the ODAC Marjorie Berkley Award. On the court, the three-time All-ODAC First Team honoree (four all-conference honors overall) and 2019 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American led the ODAC in service aces (31) and solo blocks (20) in spring 2021. She earned AVCA Division III Player of the Week honors to finish her senior season.

Daniel Khoshkepazi Named ODK's 2021 National Leader of the Year in Campus and Community Service
Daniel Khoshkepazi, a native of Cherkassy, Ukraine, and a 2017 initiate of the SUNY Plattsburgh Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, has been named the Society's National Leader of the Year in Campus and Community Service. This award is one of the Society's highest collegiate honors, and it comes with a $1,000 prize. Khoshkepazi received his Bachelor of Arts with majors in political science and anthropology and minors in archaeology and gender and women's studies from SUNY Plattsburgh in May 2019. He is currently a graduate student at the University of Baltimore pursuing a Master of Arts in global affairs and human security. In addition to being a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Khoshkepazi is also a member of the Order of Omega, Pi Sigma Alpha, Iota Iota Iota, and Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. While at SUNY Plattsburgh, he served as the vice president of student affairs and diversity for the school's Student Association. Khoshkepazi was also a peer educator for a sexuality and relationship course. In addition, he was the founder and president of the Plattsburgh Political Union and the Red Cross Club. At the University of Baltimore, Khoshkepazi has been recently re-elected for a second term as president of the Student Government Association.

Kailyn Brandt Selected as Centennial Conference Nominee for 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year Award
Washington College's Kailyn Brandt has been chosen as one of the two Centennial Conference nominees for the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year award. The Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service, and leadership. The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the Top 30 - 10 from each division - and from there selects three finalists from each division. The top 30 honorees will be announced in September, and the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced later in the fall. A biology major and chemistry minor from White Hall, Md., Brandt graduated this spring with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average and departmental honors in biology. She was a four-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Scholar of Distinction and National Academic Squad honoree, and a three-time CC Academic Honor Roll member. A perennial Dean's List student, Brandt was inducted as a Phi Beta Kappa Member in spring 2021 and also received Washington College's Pre-Allied Health Award. She served as president of Washington College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) since its reformation in the fall of 2018, developing and facilitating initiatives promoting team unity, community outreach, and career development among student-athletes. She was also a key contributor to the Centennial Conference SAAC as Washington College's conference representative. Brandt's other leadership roles included serving as president of the Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and earning memberships in the Washington College Douglass Cater Society of Junior Fellows, the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.

Emily H. Berry named ODK Gen. Russell E. Dougherty National Leader of the Year
Emily Heather Berry, a native of Annapolis and a 2018 initiate of the University of Maryland, College Park Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, has been named the Society's Gen. Russell E. Dougherty National Leader of the Year. This award is the Society's highest collegiate honor. The award comes with a $4,000 prize. Berry has served the Sigma Circle at Maryland as its alumni and membership engagement chair. Previously, she was recognized by the circle with one of its Top Ten Freshman Awards. Berry received her Bachelor of Arts with a major in government and politics earlier this year, and she will be completing a Master of Public Policy at Maryland in 2022. During the upcoming academic year, she will be serving as the president of the Sigma Circle. In addition to being involved with OK during her collegiate career, Berry has been very active in residence life at Maryland. She has served as a resident assistant, president of the Residence Hall Association (RHA), and a member of the Service Committee for the National Residence Hall Honorary. Berry was the Student of the Year Runner-Up for the Central Atlantic Region of College and University Residence Halls, and she was also named the RHA President of the Year in 2020.

Campbellsville University graduates record number of students in May
"Be kind and work hard, and I promise you amazing things will happen," Ashli Schmidt Watts, senior vice president of public affairs for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, told a record number of 2,279 students who received degrees from Campbellsville University during three commencement ceremonies May 3 and 4. A total of 2,592 students received degrees upon completion of all requirements for graduation during the 2018-19 academic year. There were 2,011 students receiving master's degrees; 255 receiving bachelor degrees and 12 being awarded associate degrees in the May 3 and 4 ceremonies.

Mississippi College recently held its annual Honors Convocation to recognize students academic and service achievements within the university and community. Hosted by First Baptist Church Clinton, students, parents, and faculty were in attendance to honor the selected students during the university's chapel service.

The Corinthian recognizes student achievement in research by providing publishing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate GC students from all disciplines.

Dean's List Announced for Fall 2018
The Mississippi College Office of Academic Affairs releases the dean's list after the close of fall and spring semesters each academic year. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must maintain a 3.5 grade point average, based on a 4.0 system. The student must take a full course load of at least 12 semester hours of undergraduate credit with all academic courses impacting their grade point average.

President's List Announced for Fall 2018
